The goal of a secular marriage is two things: Survival and pleasure. As long as you’re happy and sustaining then everything is good. That’s not the case for Christian marriage. God isn’t concerned as much about your happiness as He is about your holiness. In fact, the more holy your marriage becomes, the happier it will be. In this episode, Dale and Veronica discuss what it looks like to have a holy marriage—how to look, act, and think differently than the culture.
In addition to our teaching time, we answer one-two critical questions from our listening audience. Questions Answered In This Episode
- What is your advice to a couple who are searching for a church in a new town when the wife is more spiritually mature and has stronger preferences about the worship style, liturgy, sermon content etc but still desires to help her husband be a spiritual leader for the family in this process?
- I’m curious your view on alcohol consumption? My husband and I just heard a very powerful sermon saying that any form of alcohol consumption is sinful and wrong. While we agree that drunkenness (which is referenced heavily in the Bible) is wrong but if we want to share one glass of wine on occasion after the kids are in bed during a “home date” together is that sinful behavior?
This Week’s Memory Verse
